Bayanhungry Brownies

(invented before a journey to the Bayanhongor Province of Mongolia)

1.            Combine:

¾ cup melted butter (not margarine)

1 cup white sugar

1 ½ cups flour

2.            Add and mix:

One egg yoke

1 tsp. molasses*

1 ½ tsp. pure vanilla extract

1 tsp. pure almond extract

3.            Spread mixture evenly over two 9” x 12” flat baking pans (preferably glass or ceramic). Bake at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes until the center begins to harden and the edges begin to slightly brown.

4.            Take out of oven and evenly spread across the crusts 4-5 finely chopped Snickers bars® (or any alternative such as chocolate chips).  Pour one-half 10 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk over top of each crust and return to oven for 15-20 minutes. Remove after condensed milk has turned brown. (Do not overcook.)

5.            Allow to cool slightly. Before completely cooled, cut into fudge-sized squares while still soft.

*preferred but optional. Consider brown sugar as a substitute.
